The concept of the Heritage Palace on Wheels Train tour is that overnight, you journey from one tourist town to another in the comfort of your private sleeping chambers, and in the daytime, you enjoy pre-arranged sightseeing tours.
The passenger carriages currently used were built in 1996, having traditional interiors of Rajasthan royalty. There are 14 passenger saloons, two dining cars, a bar lounge, and a spa car. Each passenger saloon offers four cabins with private attached bathrooms, a common 6-seater lounge area, and is serviced by two butlers available 24/7. Guests are allotted exclusive sleeping chambers (built like 5-star hotel rooms) with traditional royal Rajasthani interiors, proper beds, small cupboards with keys, and attached private bathrooms having running hot and cold water shower cubicles. Top-quality bed linen and toiletries are provided. Tea/coffee service is available round the clock with the simple press of a bedside buzzer.
A maximum of three persons above five years can book one cabin. There are different Palace on Wheels packages available. All the cabins in the train are of the same type, having twin beds, and some cabins have the option of a third bunk bed.
For all onboard meals (as per tour program), guests must go to the dining cars (each with a 30-seat capacity). The sumptuous meals (a wide variety of both vegetarian and non-vegetarian) are freshly cooked in a live kitchen, and the menu varies daily. Specific dietary concerns of guests can be adhered to with prior intimation. There is proper seating with white glove service and a four-course meal.
The 30-seater bar lounge offers premium alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, which are charged extra as per consumption. Appointments need to be pre-fixed for Ayurvedic massages in the spa saloon and are charged extra.
The train is centrally air-conditioned with a strict onboard no-smoking policy. Wi-Fi is available on a complimentary basis, but at times, the signal may be very slow due to the train moving through hilly terrain.
Your sightseeing tours in tourist towns are arranged in 38-seater air-conditioned buses with English-speaking guides. Sightseeing in wildlife parks is arranged in 15-seater canters, and the cost towards entrance fees at monuments and wildlife parks is included in the package cost. As per the tour program, your off-board meals are served in boutique restaurants or 5-star hotels in buffet style.
